About Mr Gelbaya

gelbayaMr Gelbaya is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He is the clinical lead and the head of Leicester Fertility Centre, based at Leicester Royal Infirmary, a well known NHS tertiary referral centre for Infertility and Assisted Reproduction. The unit also offers private Assisted Reproduction Techniques (ART) such as IUI, DI, IVF, ICSI, donor eggs and eggs and embryo freezing. Mr Gelbaya is also the clinical lead of Endometriosis service at the University Hospitals of Leicester and is supported by a great team of consultant colleagues, specialist nurses, counsellors, and administrative staff. . Mr Gelbaya also offers private Gynaecology outpatient and inpatient services at both Spire Leicester Hospital and Nuffield Leicester Hospital. He has over 25 years experience in Gynaecology.

Mr Gelbaya graduated in 1987 and completed his postgraduate training in London. He joined a specialty training program in the Northwest region and completed his subspecialty training at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester. He was appointed as NHS consultant in reproductive medicine at University Hospitals of Leicester. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and an accredited subspecialist in reproductive medicine and surgery.

Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery can also be performed for division of Pelvic Adhesions, removal of Fibroids, removal of Ovarian Cysts, Tubal Surgery and other benign gynaecological conditions. Mr Gelbaya is also very happy to offer Laparoscopic Hysterectomy for selected patients. Mr Gelbaya is very experienced in Hysteroscopic surgery including division of uterine septum or intrauterine adhesions, surgical removal of intra-cavitary fibroids (Hysteroscopic Myomectomy) or polyps and Transcervical Resection of Endometrium (TCRE). Mr Gelbaya is also experienced in Gynaecological Ultrasound and management of early pregnancy problems.

Mr Gelbaya is a is an associate member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), British Medical Association (BMA) and the British Fertility Society (BFS). He is a BFS accredited trainer for the advanced RCOG training modules in Care of the Infertile Couples, Assisted Conception, Pelvic Ultrasound for Reproductive Medicine and Embryo Transfer. Mr Gelbaya is a member of the ESHRE Special Interest Groups in Reproductive Surgery and Endometriosis.

Mr Gelbaya has published widely on many aspects of Gynaecology, Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, and has written several textbook chapters. Mr Gelbaya has presented at many national and international meetings and conferences. He is an ad-hoc reviewer for many international scientific journals and publishers.
