Meet Mr Gelbaya
I appreciate that I may not be the first doctor you’ve seen.
You may already have been on a very long road – having undergone test after test, met with specialist after specialist. I routinely look after patients who are considered as having highly complex cases. In many instances, patients arrive feeling understandably deflated and frustrated.
Please take heed in these words – I’ll approach your case afresh.
Together we’ll explore potential paths forward that may not have been considered.
And if you’re at the beginning of your journey, whether it’s for a gynaecological or fertility issue, I can assure you that you’re in safe hands with me and my experienced team. From the moment you step in our clinic, we’re here to make your experience a smooth and calming one.
Allow me to tell you a little more about myself and my clinical expertise
My specialist experience in Gynaecology spans more than two decades – over 25 years in fact! Following my graduation, I completed my postgraduate training in London, from where I went on to join a specialty training program in the Northwest region, and subspecialty training at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Manchester.
Today I serve as an NHS consultant in reproductive medicine at University Hospitals of Leicester. I also private gynaecology & fertility care at Spire Leicester Hospital, Nuffield Leicester Hospital and Leicester Fertility Clinic.
I’m a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and an accredited subspecialist in reproductive medicine and surgery. I’m also the clinical lead of Endometriosis at the University Hospitals of Leicester, where I’m supported by a great team of consultant colleagues, specialist nurses, counsellors, and administrative staff.
As a BFS accredited trainer, I mentor others in advanced RCOG training modules in Care of Infertile Couples; Assisted Conception; Pelvic Ultrasound for Reproductive Medicine and Embryo Transfer.
I’m a published researcher on many aspects of Gynaecology, Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, and I’ve also written several textbook chapters and continue to present at many national and international meetings and conferences.
Experience, training and professional positions aside, my role isn’t merely about clinical excellence
My job is just as much about providing support and reassurance, as it is delivering excellent clinical care – which is reflected by the rest of my team – and I’m heartened to say that our patient testimonials reflect this caring ethos.
